The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has designated every October as the Annual Paid Leave Promotion Month to encourage employees to take their paid leave in a planned manner.
Companies are expected to make it easier for employees to take time off by adjusting workloads and creating vacation plans.
Since April 2019, employees who are granted 10 or more days of paid leave per year are legally required to take at least 5 of those days.
This month serves as a good opportunity for companies to review employees’ leave records and promote workplace-wide efforts to encourage paid leave utilization.
