The number of foreign trainees in Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures — hard hit by the 2011 Great East Japan10+件 Earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster — has rebounded to top 4,300, the Mainichi Shimbun has learned.
These trainees are currently engaged in reconstruction efforts in the prefectures, alleviating the local labor shortage, interviews with officials of the Justice Ministry’s Immigration Bureau and other parties reveal.
